How Flip-a-Coin.org Works

A focused, independent set of browser-based tools for coin flips, probability, and simple 50/50 decisions.

What we build

The site provides a single coin flipper, a multiple-flip experiment, a binomial probability calculator, a streak calculator, and a yes or no decision tool. Each page has a distinct purpose and is maintained as a working tool, not as a doorway to unrelated content.

Randomness method

Random outcomes use crypto.getRandomValues(). A result is chosen locally before animation. Our randomness explanation publishes the exact midpoint and JavaScript used by the tools.

Calculation method

The probability calculator uses the binomial distribution. The streak calculator uses a state-based dynamic program to account for overlapping possible runs. Calculations are performed in the browser and do not require a server request.

Sources and image attribution

Technical claims link to primary specifications or research where useful. The photographed 1796 United States quarter images are public-domain currency images sourced from Wikimedia Commons. Source links are recorded in the repository asset notes.

Privacy and corrections

No account is required. Tool inputs stay on your device. Cloudflare measures privacy-focused page-load timing, not your labels, questions, or generated results. If you find a calculation, accessibility, or presentation problem, use the contact page and include the URL and expected result.
