How to use the yes or no generator

  1. Ask one clear question that can be answered with yes or no.
  2. Make sure either answer would be safe and acceptable.
  3. Select Get Yes or No, then follow the result, or use your reaction to learn what you wanted.

Good questions for a random answer

Use this decision maker for harmless choices such as whether to watch another episode, take a short walk, choose the first of two games, or start with one of two chores. If the options are not equally acceptable, a random answer is probably the wrong tool.

When not to use randomness

Do not use a yes or no generator for decisions involving health, safety, money, legal rights, or another person's wellbeing. Get reliable information or advice instead. This tool is a quick tie-breaker, not a substitute for judgment.

Is the result really random?

The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues() in your browser to choose between two equal ranges. That gives yes and no the same probability on every decision. A streak of several identical answers can still happen naturally. The main coin page explains the exact values and midpoint used.

Frequently asked questions

Does the generator remember earlier answers?

No. Each answer is independent. Previous yes or no results do not affect the next one.

Is yes more likely than no?

No. Both answers receive an equal half of the possible random values.

Can I reset the decision history?

Yes. Select “Reset my stats” to delete the counts stored in your browser.
